“Dangote drove me home from the hospital when I was born” — Davido recalls billionaire’s bond with his family

Afrobeats star Davido has revealed that billionaire businessman Aliko Dangote has shared a close relationship with his family for decades, recalling that the industrialist drove him home from the hospital after he was born.

Davido made the revelation while speaking about his father, Adedeji Adeleke’s longstanding friendship with Dangote. He described Dangote as someone he has known since childhood and said the billionaire has consistently given him the same financial advice whenever they meet.

“Every time I see Uncle Aliko, he tells me the same thing. David, save your money. Save your money. He tells me the same thing since I’ve been a baby,” Davido said.

The singer also spoke about how remarkable it is to see extremely wealthy people live relatively simple lives, noting that his father and Dangote have remained disciplined despite their wealth.

He said the relationship between his family and Dangote also showed him that Black people can achieve immense wealth outside entertainment and sports.

“A lot of times people think you can only become rich, especially in America, if you're Black, if you're in entertainment or sports,” he said.

Davido added that what amazes him most about his father and Dangote is how normal and disciplined they are despite their enormous wealth.
